SS agar
(Salmonella-Shigella agar) - This is used in mic robiology as a nutrient-type selective-differentiating. It is use d for breeding bacteria (eg, to determine drug resistance) groups of Salmonella and Shigella from stool samples. Because the stool contains many bacteria from different families, it is important to increase the selectivity here. The medium outside the growth factors (agar, meat broth, peptone) has a differentiating components - sodium chloride, thiosulfate and sodium citrate, and dyes (neutral red, brilliant green).
